The art of Reid DeFever sparks creativity in the viewer, with bold bright splashes of color and texture coveying feeling, motion and emotion. DeFever's paintings are as diverse in subject as in color pallete, fantasy and dream like images fill his canvases with a unique perspective on our inner and oter world. Reid's first oil painting at age 16 was "Home" a 9"x 9" -oil on wood depicting a lone ship moored in calm waters off Catalina Island. It reveals this artists style and recurring subject matter of sea and sky right from the start, though his exploration in this art media was to be delayed. Reid did not began painting again until some 18 years later after exploring his passion for music through University training, performaing in dozens of bands and ensembles, Internation touring and Solo CD releases. DeFever's art encompasses large and smal size works, line drawings, digital art and photgraph manipulation as well as graphic design. DeFever is heavily influence by Van Gogh as evidenced by his bold use of color and texture and often unusaual perspectives.
